Bones The Basics. There are 206 bones in the adult human body, all of which function together with muscles and joints  as well as tendons , ligaments and cartilage  to form our musculoskeletal system. The bones protect our bodies, protect our organs and help shape our form from head to toe.

They won't be able to sit, stand, walk or do any of the things we love doing every day without the muscles. Bone health is important at any age, and it is never too early or too late to have the fundamentals of building good , healthy bones to lead strong , healthy lives.
