Medidata keeps track of the effect COVID-19 has on clinical trials around the world. Our First Impact Statement on Evidences and Observations was released on March 23, followed by releases on April 3, April 17, May 4, May 18, June 15 and now July 13. At the start of the pandemic, we looked at the year-over-year changes to consider and appreciate the influence of COVID-19 on the effects of trial activity on clinical trials through geographies and therapeutic areas .

We had started seeing a leveling off of the impact and regional fluctuations as recorded in Release 6.0. Now that we have several months of data, we are pivoting to help the industry better understand regional and TA-level changes over time, and allow real-time decision-making.

We concentrate the research below on trial activity as calculated by the average number of new patients joining trials per site of study. We expect COVID-19 to continue to impact trials at various times around the globe, with varying intensity. Under this light, we will continue to highlight insights from the cross-industry data of Media data.
