Halloween numbers now do an fun dance. The number of Americans claiming to be celebrating Halloween this year is three million fewer than it was this time last year. Don't worry. I don't believe that Halloween goes anywhere.

Apparently, there are a few factors leading to the decline including fewer school-age children and fewer families preparing to go trick-or-treat.Holding Steady ... Candy is still the most popular thing to buy for Halloween, picking up some for the big day with 95 percent of celebrities.

This year  up  More people make Halloween decorations. 72 per cent of celebrities pick up things for the house this year. Another category which shows significant growth are haunted attractions ... which are NEVER included in Halloween 's general stats.

You always have to look out for them. Yet this year, haunted attractions are neck-and-neck with greeting cards in sales, and this year's number of celebrities visiting haunted houses rose from 18% to 22%. That percentage almost doubles among the 18- to 24-year-olds (to 40 per cent).
