European airline carriers have secured government support worth billions since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. Germany's Lufthansa, the fourth largest airline in the world, has earned a lifeline of nine billion euros, the largest German corporate rescue so far caused by COVID-19. There has not been any exception.
For example, on June 26, the Netherlands revealed its financial support details for KLM with a bailout package worth 3.4 billion euros. France previously announced aid worth seven billion euros for Air France.
