The Irish Data Protection Commission is facing serious allegations that Facebook and its subsidiaries, including WhatsApp and Instagram, were not fined in due time for serious privacy violations. The backlash came from Europe-based NOYB, a non-profit, enforcement platform for cybersecurity.

The NOYB posted their critique online and very openly condemned the sluggish speed of the Irish authorities.Curiously, on the second anniversary of the General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR) the EU issued a NOYB post. This allowed the European Commission to impose heavy fines on the three companies owned but not yet imposed by Mark Zuckerberg-no such legislation.

Restricted talks between the Irish authorities and Facebook have been well under way, according to the NOYB, as the two have conjured up ways to circumvent GDPR. It also indicates the Irish Data Protection Commission's slow pace in enforcing the rules set out in the GDPR.
