Not to be confused with Pareto's popular 80-20 theory, the '80 percent full rule' means simply eating until you're about 80 percent full. It's a bit like leaving you gym-goers a few reps in the tank while you're lifting heavy stuff, rather than failing.
The meaning goes like this: the brain normally lags a little behind the stomach, and generally when you get to the point where you're feeling full you've already over-eaten. And it leaves you about right to stop about 20% short.
It requires a little awareness and self-control, particularly if you're someone who's grown up trying to eat as much as possible.
