Avoid the spread of germs The only way to protect yourself from being exposed is to stop contracting respiratory diseases. When you can't stop exposure, though, the CDC recommends routine protective measures to help reduce the spread of disease. These are the steps the CDC recommends: Avoid direct contact with sick people.

Do not cross your eyes, your nose and your mouth. Go home, if you're sick. Cover with a tissue over your cough or sneeze, then chuck the tissue in the garbage. Sometimes touched objects and surfaces are washed and disinfected. Using the standard spray or wipes for household cleaning.

Wash your hands with soap and water, always. Wash, particularly after going to the bathroom, for at least 20 seconds; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. Wet your hands (warm or cold) with clean, flowing water, turn off the tap and apply soap. Lather your hands and clean them with soap. Be sure to lather your hands ' backs, between your fingers and under your nails. At least wash your hands for 20 seconds. Need a time timer? Hum the "Happy Birthday" song twice, from start to finish. Well rinse your hands under cool, cold water. Protect hands with a clean towel, or dry them with air.
